Fantasy Injury Updates: Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams, Brandin Cooks, more shake up Week 6 start-or-sit decisions

The Week 6 WR rankings have some prominent names involved in injury reports this week. Tyreek Hill is closer to making his return, while his teammate Sammy Watkins might be inactive. Davante Adams missed practice again (as did Marquise Brown) and hasn’t participated since his turf toe injury a couple weeks ago. Brandin Cooks hasn’t yet cleared concussion protocol for the Rams, and in Arizona, both Christian Kirk and Damiere Byrd look on track to return for an appealing fantasy matchup against the Falcons. The latest updates could go a long way in determing fantasy start ’em, sit ’em decisions this week.

Will Tyreek Hill play Week 6?

UPDATE: Hill is officially questionable for Sunday’s game against Houston.

Hill (clavicle) was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice ahead of the Chiefs’ Week 6 matchup against the Texans. Andy Reid told reporters that it’s a “timing thing” with Hill, suggesting it will come down to Sunday morning to determine his availability.

Hill is a must-start as soon as he returns to the Chiefs’ active list, while his activation throws any potential value for Demarcus Robinson, Mecole Hardman and Byron Pringle into doubt. Sammy Watkins is also dinged up, so this is an injury report worth watching.

Is Davante Adams playing Monday night?

UPDATE: Adams is questionable for Monday’s game against Detroit.

Adams (turf toe) didn’t take part in Packers’ practice Wednesday or Thursday. He’ll have an extra day to try and get ready for Week 6 with the Packers hosting the Lions on Monday night. Adams missed Week 5 due to the injury he sustained late in Green Bay’s Week 4 game. Adams spent a portion of Thursday’s practice “working on his jump shot.”

Marquez Valdes-Scantling disappointed in Week 5 with Adams out, but the temporary No. 1 WR would be a solid WR3 play against Detroit if Adams misses another game. Geronimo Allison remains an unexciting PPR FLEX option regardless of whether Adams plays.

Brandin Cooks concussion news

UPDATE: Cooks is not on the final injury report for Sunday’s game against San Francisco.

Cooks sustained a concussion last Thursday and was still in concussion protocol of Wednesday. He was limited in the Rams’ practice Wednesday. He’ll obviously need to clear concussion protocol before he can play Week 6 against the 49ers. Josh Reynolds would start as L.A.’s third wideout if Cooks sits.

A potential Cooks absence would set Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods to be more locked in to their targets, while also allowing Gerald Everett a better chance at continuing his good stretch of play.

How long is Sammy Watkins out?

UPDATE: Watkins is officially doubtful for Sunday’s game against Houston.

Unlike Hill, Watkins didn’t partake in any of Wednesday’s or Thursday’s practices. He left Sunday Night Football after two plays because of a hamstring injury and didn’t return.

When Watkins left the game, Byron Pringle stepped up to catch six passes for 103 yards and a touchdown. Pringle probably only matters if both Watkins and Hill are out, but he’s probably the only one of the Chiefs’ relevant wideouts available in most fantasy leagues if you want a sleeper.

Christian Kirk injury update

UPDATE: Kirk is questionable for Sunday’s game against Atlanta.

Kirk (ankle) got in limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday, as did Damiere Byrd after they both missed Week 5. The Cardinals play what promises to be a high-scoring game with the Falcons in Week 6, so it looks like Kirk and Byrd are both on schedule to return.

Kirk was a target machine before his absence, so he’s a WR2 play against a vulnerable Falcons secondary if he plays. Byrd plays around 90 percent of snaps when he’s active, too, so he’s a sleeper FLEX option in a positive matchup.

Will Marquise Brown play Week 6?

UPDATE: Brown is questionable for Sunday’s game against Cincinnati.

“Hollywood” Brown has missed both Wednesday and Thursday practices this week. John Harbaugh said Wednesday that Brown’s ankle injury is “nothing serious,” but a second-straight day of missed practice will have his fantasy owners very attentive to the Friday practice report.

The Ravens have such a good offensive matchup against the Bengals, and it would be a shame for Hollywood to miss out. His absence would thrust Willie Snead into the No. 1 WR role in Baltimore, making Snead a good PPR start.
