South Carolina’s Ryan Hilinski injured after Georgia player hits his knee

South Carolina quarterback Ryan Hilinski was knocked out of the Gamecocks’ game against Georgia on Saturday with an apparent injury to his left knee.

The play occurred in the third quarter with South Carolina up 17-10 over the third-ranked Bulldogs. In the play, Georgia linebacker Adam Anderson can be seen diving low and hitting Hilinski’s knee, drawing a roughing the passer penalty and causing Hilinski to writhe in pain. However, video replay shows Anderson may have been tripped by left tackle Sadarius Hutcherson, causing him to run into Hilinski.

There hasn’t been official word as to Hilinski’s status, but it appears he is done for the day. Dakereon Joyner has since come on in replacement. If Hilinski doesn’t return, he will have finished the day with 15-of-20 passing for 116 yards and a touchdown.

Update: Hilinski was on the sidelines watching as his team beat No. 3 Georgia. Fittingly, he threw up 3s to honor his late brother, Tyler Hilinski, who wore that number at Washington State.
